How To Apply

Apply for SCITT and School Direct

Where to Apply

All applications must be made through the UCAS Teacher Training System

The UCAS application system for 2019/2020 will open on the 9th October 2018

If you’re looking for programmes in England, you’ll need to use the Department for Education’s ‘Find postgraduate teacher training’ service. If you’re looking for programmes in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, you’ll need to use UCAS’ search tool.

There is no closing date for applications, each programme/subject will only close once all of the places are filled therefore submitting an early application is highly recommended.

* Please note: Although there are two different routes available to apply to for RCTTP, all training is done collaboratively and there is no difference in the training or qualifications received through the SCITT and School Direct routes. Trainees on both routes are trained together following the same programme. If you wish to apply to train within Redcar and Cleveland please only apply to SCITT or School Direct not both.

How We Select Our Trainees

Shortlisting from Application

Course leaders and colleagues from Partnership Schools will look at application forms and decide who will be invited for task/interview. it is therefore important that the application form contains all the relevant information and that particular attention is paid to the personal statement.

Task/Interview day

Applicants who are successful at this stage will receive a letter inviting them to a task/interview  day. the morning is comprised of a group task/ presentation task and a written task. The tasks are designed to find out more about applicants and their suitability to teach. Based on performance in these tasks, successful applicants will be invited to remain for a personal interview in the afternoon. this will include a brief teaching task which will be detailed in the letter inviting applicants to the day.
